The tradition of organizing festive pilafs in regions dated back to 2005. The «Mekhr Nuri» Foundation holds charity events for socially needy categories of citizens with a serving of Uzbek national dish «Osh» (Pilaf). The event takes place in all areas during the celebration of «Navruz», as well as during charity events «Iftorlik», dedicated to the sacred festival «Ramazon Khayit».
Presentations by various local art and folk groups, Uzbek pop stars are also organized for these days. Totally more than 100 thousand people have attended these activities since 2005.
