Joint projects of the Fund Forum with public organizations of Japan

On July 20, 2006 the opening ceremony of the representative office of the Fund Forum was held in Tokyo. One of the first projects was visit of Japanese string quartet Excelsior to Uzbekistan in April 2006.

On March 10, 2010, the Fund Forum signed a Memorandum on cooperation with Nagoya University, one of Japan’s leading educational institutions. The goal of this partnership is to provide mutual support in educational projects in Uzbekistan and Japan. This is the first memorandum that the Fund Forum has signed with one of the world’s foremost universities.

Scaled projects

In May 2006 art exhibition The Great Silk Road and its heritage was held in Hakodate city. Earlier, in 2005, the exhibition was held in other regions of Japan.

20 June 2006 - scientific and research conference 21 century. History of Great Silk road: past and present.

29 July 2006 - videoconference Tashkent-Tokyo, which connected the building of International business center in Tashkent and Center of Japanese agency of international cooperation (JICE) in Tokyo.

August, 2006 an international scientific seminar «Ceramics of Uzbekistan: form, ornament, semantics» has been conducted in «Usto-Shogird» (Master and Student) ceramics school of famous master of Tashkent Akbar Rakhimov by the Fund Forum and UNESCO office.

International scientific and theoretical conference Great Silk Road. The culture and traditions. Past and Present took place on October 19-20, 2006.

On March 19, 2007 Japanese Energy Forum has been held in Tokyo with the presentation of mining, oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan.

March 25, 2007 the exhibition «Antiquity and modernity in the architecture of Uzbekistan».

August 24, 2007 - concert «Music and Dance of the Country of a Rising Sun» (Tashkent).

Presentation of the Uzbek culture and fashion within the framework of the International Festival of Culture of the Great Silk Road was held on May 3-6, 2008 Takamatsu.

International ecological symposium held on July, 4th, 2008 in Tokyo in order to draw international attention to environmental problems of the Central Asia.

March 30, 2009, Uzbek-Japanese Trade-Investment Seminar took part in Tokyo. More than 120 representatives of diplomatic corpus, government bodies, analytical centers and leading economic organizations of Japan took part in the event.

In June 2009, “Registan” instrumental group gave a series of concerts in Japan.

October 31, 2009 in Tashkent Japanese traditional dance concert was held. "Bandou Sengiku" - the Japanese dance group presented three classical Japanese dances. Master class of Japanese dance art for students of the Tashkent State Folk Dance and Choreography High School was held on November 1 at the School Hall.

On January 23, 2010, Himiko group of Japanese drummers presented the Uzbek audience with new sounds of percussion instruments that combined the might and manliness of Japanese drums with female grace and glitter. On January 26, the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan hosted a master class given by the Group for students and all those interested to become closer to the art of Japanese drums.

On February 15-18, 2010, Uzbek-Japanese symposiums titled “Ancient Civilizations and Religions in Uzbekistan: In Search of the Origins of Japanese Culture” were held at leading Japanese universities. The events that brought together around 1,200 representatives of academic and public circles were organized at Toyo University in Tokyo and Nara University in Japan’s Kansai Region.

On April 30, 2011, famous Japanese calligrapher Koichi Honda showed his art at Nodir Divanbegi Madrasah as part of Asrlar sadosi (Echo of Centuries) Festival of Traditional Culture. Titled "Dedication to Bukhara", the art show was attended by over 100 people. Twenty-three exquisite works by Honda were on display.

On July 21, 2011, Tokyo hosted Uzbek Culture Evening, which brought together over 250 Japanese government officials, public figures, parliament members, culture and art professionals, scientists and journalists. Organized by the Fund Forum with assistance from Ikuo Hirayama Silk Road Museum Foundation, the event focused on Uzbekistan`s cultural legacy, arts and tourism potential.
