The Fund Forum has collaborated actively with French Institute (former Victor Hugo French Cultural Centre) for several years. There are plans afoot to sign a cooperation memorandum between the two organizations.
Major events
October 1-20, 2005. Around 75 artists from over 20 countries participated in the Third Tashkent Biennale which featured diverse art categories, from painting to video art. The slogan of the Biennale, Myths of the West and Myths of the East, spoke of a synthesis of eastern and western cultures and creation of an aesthetic aura for the demonstration and exchange of artistic ideas.
May 21-25, 2008. The French Embassy in Tashkent and the Centre of National Arts hosted a Week of Taste. The events held within the week were given the goal of presenting French culinary delights made by leading chefs from France to the Uzbek public.
July 7-18, 2008. An instructor of Victor Hugo French Cultural Centre joined a group of trainers for an educational summer camp which was organized in Kashkadarya Region. The camp was attended by around 400 members of Kelajak ovozi Youth Initiative Centre as well as winners of the Fund Forum’s projects.
October 27 – November 8, 2009. An international exhibition of contemporary arts titled “Signs of Time” was held at Ming O’rik archeological site in Tashkent.
April 3, 2010. The State Conservatory of Uzbekistan hosted a concert by Alcée, a French string quartet. The concert program included works by famous French composers Camille Saint-Saëns and César Franck.
On May 27, 2010, Tashkent`s Youth Creativity Palace gave its stage to a French guitarist Thibault Cauvin, who drew around 800 spectators. The concert program included works by Domenico Scarlatti, Tom Jobim, Philip Cauvin and Carlo Domeniconi among others.
On June 5, 2010, Tashkent Circus presented a charitable show for children from orphanages, low-income families and families in need of social support. Among the performers was a famous French acrobat and juggler Willy Weldens.
On June 21, 2010, a popular French singer-songwriter Nilda Fernandez played a concert at Alisher Navoi Theater. In a duet with Uzbek musicians, the singer presented a medley of Latin rhythms, French chansons and Uzbek melodies.
On May 13-14, 2011, prominent French pianist Francois Chaplin performed in the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.
On June 30, 2011, French composer, guitar virtuoso and avid fan of Roma music Jean-Philippe Bruttman gave a concert in Tashkent.
