Grant Program to Support Socially Significant Projects of Regional NGOs in Uzbekistan

Grant Program to Support Socially Significant Projects of Regional NGOs in Uzbekistan

Launched by the Fund Forum and the Social Initiative Support Fund (SISF), the program is aimed at providing financial support for socially significant projects initiated by regional NGOs to step up efforts to address social issues.

The program is open to registered regional NGOs that come up with projects focusing on issues such as preservation and revival of cultural and national traditions, health, education, infrastructure, ecology, etc.

A Special Expert Council was set up to select and identify the best projects. The Council consisted of representatives of NGOs, media, education, culture and arts, clergy, and representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, local authorities and others. All submitted project proposals were considered by the Expert Council collectively by principles of social partnership. According to the principle, each participant has an equal responsibility to implement socially significant projects of any scale.

79 NGOs have been provided 186 mln soums worth of grants to be channelled into social project implementation.

- Our center offers cooking and weaving courses for disabled women. Presently, over 20 women with disabilities have joined the center. Moreover, we provide regular training seminars involving psychologists, law specialists and entrepreneurs. Our objective is to help boost disabled women’s role, incite interest in studies and encourage them to set themselves goals. And we want to say thanks to the SISF and the Fund Forum for providing a grant which will help us accomplish the project to support disabled women.
