Gulnara Karimova took part at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, which was held in May 2009 in Jordan. The three - day forum gathered 1 400 leaders from 85 countries of the world. King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of the Hashemite Kingdom hosted the event.
As the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Social Initiatives Suport Fund Dr. Gulnara Karimova among eight orators took part in the panel session titled Soft Touch of the Middle East. The session covered issues of international cooperation of the Middle East and ways to promote countries on the world arena by means of cultural activities.
Gulnara Karimova’s speech was devoted to promotion of image of modern Uzbekistan as one of the central points of the Great Silk Road, the crossroad of civilizations. She highlights the process of civil society formation in the country, contribution of the public organizations in construction of positive image of Uzbekistan abroad, developing international cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Besides, Alastair Newton, Senior Political Analyst, Nomura, United Kingdom, David Appia, French Ambassador for International Investment, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Invest in France Agency, France, Muhammad Lutfi, Chairman, Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Indonesia and other experts presented their views at the session.
