Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia in Moscow included Guli fashion show and Uzbek Art Evening organized by the Fund Forum.
Interest in Guli label`s Autumn-Winter 2011-2012 Collection showcased on April 2 as part of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week exceeded the expectations of the fashion week`s organizers. The 500-odd attendees included the likes of the president of the Federation of Calisthenics Irina Vinner, president and founder of ‘de Grisogono` Swiss jewelry maker Fawaz Gruosi, Lord Gillford, Count Henri de Monspey, L`Officiel international editor Evelina Khromchenko, pop singers Filipp Kirkorov and Kristina Orbakaite, GQ editor-in-chief Nikolai Uskov, fashion designers Helen Yarmak and Igor Chapurin, media stars Yuliy Gusman and Andrei Malakhov, analyst Mikhail Leontyev, socialite-cum-heartthrob Alexei Garber, Russian music group Serebro and the general producer of Russian Fashion Week, Alexander Shumskiy, among others.
The show which presented modern trends of the season framed with oriental features has become one of the highlights amidst a string of catwalk shows. The Uzbek label`s fans that watch Gulnara Karimova`s creativity highly appreciated the collection that combined attire and jewelry. Another equally interesting factor is the use of fabrics created thanks to Karimova`s efforts in the area of reviving ancient traditions and weaving techniques. The successful modern interpretation of these fabrics has made for another discovery by Guli label, demonstrating thus Uzbek traditions in dressmaking and combination of patterns as a trend that fits in harmoniously with contemporary accents.
The Uzbek Art Evening, dedicated to Uzbek hospitality and a synthesis of cultures, drew a large number of fans of the traditional event. In addition to the above-mentioned guest list, the event was attended by famous political figures, fashion models, musicians, and renowned personalities from the domain of medicine and science.
Held at famous Russian restaurateur Arkadiy Novikov`s Bolshoy Restaurant, the art evening was further pepped up by performances of world-famous violin player Dmitriy Kogan and Uzbek stringed instrument gijjak virtuoso Abdukhoshim Ismoilov as well as Uzbek tenor Ramiz Kadyrov, music group Sato and a young laureate of “Yangi avlod” (New generation) Children`s Creativity Festival.
The Evening included a presentation of “iPhone 4 GULI” gadget by Swiss mobile phone maker Gresso. Adorned with stylish oriental design by Karimova, the gizmo featured easy-to-recognize oriental motifs, a combination of gold leafs and white gold, ivory-color Byzantine jewelry enamel, turquoises, corals, pink pearls and white diamonds.
A mini exhibition, held as part of the Uzbek Art Evening, featuring unique ancient fabrics and embroidery along with modern handmade textile samples made by “Style.Uz” Art Week creative team, House of Style designers and Guli label, has warranted accolades as well. The prime item of the exhibition is the robe that belonged to the 19th-century Emir of Bukhara from the collection of Bukhara Art Museum, the first time it has ever been showcased beyond Uzbekistan. The event climaxed in Guli jewelry collection show.
