Art Week Style.uz-2010 presented a lot of surprises in store. But one of the most significant events for style and fashion connoisseurs was the presentation of the worlds famous fashion luster with French roots and an international fashion look L`OFFICIEL magazine’s Central Asian version. This project initiated and embodied by Gulnara Karimova was implemented with the direct participation of the edition`s owner Marie-José Susskind-Jalou. Madame Jalou paid a special trip to Tashkent for the presentation of the first L`OFFICIEL CENTRAL ASIA issue together with her son Benjamin Eymere, the head of the French edition of L`OFFICIEL.
"... I just want to anticipate all the most complete skeptics` comments about the fact that our market is not yet ready for a magazine of such level, a kind of glossy style icon. This Central Asian version, created with the direct participation of the L`Officiel French edition and respected Les Editions Jalou publishing house, has been carefully transformed for our readers` perception and hopefully, will be really interesting. - With these words Gulnara Karimova met first readers on the glossy pages of L`OFFICIEL CENTRAL ASIA. - In the future, step by step, we will try to adapt the material, thus enriching the magazine`s image with Central Asian fashion, which conceals a unique flavor of riddles, modern discoveries and new, unexpected ethnic interpretations.
At the presentation of the magazine on the eve of October 10 at the L`Art de la Cuisine restaurant, the head of the French edition of L`OFFICIEL Benjamin Eymere presented Gulnara a bag designed by the young French designer a symbiosis of Uzbek ikat with French material and the brim. He said: "…the vision of the new magazine should be exactly like this bag. Uzbekistan has become a country of which I talk a lot. And I already feel like an unofficial ambassador of your country. If we talk about the mission of our magazine, I want to mention that we bring world`s vision of individual style and trends into other regions, keeping in mind the respect to local style."
Madame Susskind-Jalou said she was proud of the fact that L`Officiel would become a wire thread along the Silk Road. Referring to Gulnara, Madame Jalou called her "the best ambassador of style and fashion to promote the magazine in the region."
L`Officiel is a French fashion magazine published since 1921 in Paris. In 1938, it became the world`s first fashion magazine to publish colour photos. It introduced to its readers fashion designers Jacques Fath and Christian Dior, who were only starting to make waves in fashion then. Presently, L`Officiel is published in France, Russia, China, India, Turkey, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Greece and Ukraine. For over 80 years it has followed the times and defined French taste in elegance, design talents, venues, exhibitions, decoration, and architecture.
