Gulnara Karimova awarded 128 certificates to the winners of "Family Entrepreneurship Social Support" contest, conducted by "Ayollar kengashi" (Women`s Council) NGO in conjunction with the National Association of Microfinance Organizations and Credit Unions. Following Gulnara`s initiative "Ayollar kengashi" NGO, in conjunction with the "Mehr Nuri" (Ray of Mercy) Public Fund and Social Initiatives Support Fund (all patronized by Gulnara) have issued 518 interest-free micro-credits worth about 1.8 billion UZS in 2009 within the social projects and charitable programs.
The main objectives of the competition: promoting female entrepreneurship, providing an informative and advisory support to small businesses, and support women in realizing their own projects, creating new job places.
The Competition for women seeking for micro-loans was held in such areas as agriculture, food processing, textile and clothing industry, crafts development, providing residential and social services, retail and catering provision.
Microcredit System Project will increase the women`s responsibility for their own business and develop their skills of business management. Small manufacturing plants are an important source of microcredit and loans demand. Small business in Uzbekistan, as well as worldwide, is an important sector of national economy, and therefore gets the active support of public organizations that provide funds to implement the most relevant and effective business plans.
