Gulnara Karimova has paved the sort of New Silk Road by presenting Spring-Summer 2010 collection of her Guli brand. Fashion show, inspired by inimitable ancient architecture of Samarkand Bukhara, Khiva, was estimated first by pretentious public of Milan Fashion Week and later on by numerous guests of the Style.uz-2009 Art Week in Tashkent and the guest of the Russian Fashion Week at last.
Full house during the event became the evidence that well-versed Muscovites welcomed the collection of 17 looks with a great interest. Every model was accompanied by not just music, but special video spots of the greatest architecture memorials Samanids Mausoleum, Registan minarets, Bukhara domes. What is special about the collection is that it had been made solely from natural fabrics (such as excelsior, shoyi, adras, bekasam, Samarkand silk) and colors, created by the ancient weaving techniques.
Among celebrities of the fashion show were Helen Yarmak, Alexander Shenkman, David Yakobashvili, Yuliya Vizgalina, Elena Ischeeva, Evelina Khromchenko, L`Officiel-Russia editor-in-chief, Andrey Grigorev-Appolonov and producer Igor Matvienko (Ivanushki International band), Alexander Shumski, RFW general producer and many other famous designers, businessmen, show-biz people and media.
Alexander Shumski, RFW general producer:
- I was fortuned to visit Guli present Style.uz evening in Milan and have to admit that it was very successful. All the elite of Milan gathered there and everyone had been looking for it. No doubt, it was a triumph! Italian newspapers wrote that it was the most attended show of the Milan Fashion Week. Russia and Uzbekistan enjoys long historical relations, that is why I take it absolutely natural, that Guli brand is presented at Russian Fashion Week. I believe that from now we will have it every season. The East in general is very topical for the West. It is popular all over the world. I believe it is going be a new trend.
Helen Yarmak, designer:
I have seen this collection in Milan, Tashkent and now in Moscow. This is really interesting, vivid and unique. Public was excited in every city, because collection is really international. Gulnara`s proposals are real trends, this is the most topical in world fashion industry.
Alisher, designer:
I am originally from Tashkent. As far as I am a designer myself, it is definitely interesting to see works by Gulnara, and in general what has been done in my native Uzbekistan. I have heard from my Russian colleagues how grandiose was the Style.uz-2009 Art Week in Tashkent. And I will be pleased to visit it next year to become an eyewitness.
Andrey Grigorev-Appolonov, Ivanushki International soloist:
I wanted to have some quality time on my weekend and came to the GULI fashion show. I am really interested in the ideas Gulnara has been promoting as a designer. She is very talented and creative person and all what she does is very fresh, original and interesting.
Elena Ischeeva, TV anchor, Banki TV project manager:
GULI Fashion show had attracted me because of the pure female curiosity. Until today I have never know about the creative works of this designer and such kind of events are exactly made to discover something new. So, I can say full heartedly that it is real breakthrough for me. I love the East and in my wardrobe I have some costumes with eastern patterns. Unfortunately, I am not sure if we have the show-room of GULI in Moscow, but I would love to visit one.
