On April 7, 2009 in Tashkent Center of National Arts Gulnara Karimova awarded the winners of «Social Support of Women in Rural Area Program» with certificates for special micro loans. Overall the competition was attended by 7000 women all over the country.
The project organizers are «Jenskoe Sobranie» (Women`s Council) NGO, with the assistance of «Mehr Nuri» (Ray of Mercy) Public Fund and the National Association of Microfinance Institutions and Credit Unions.
The project promotes development of female entrepreneurship in remote locations, providing support to women in realizing their own projects, creating new job places.
The contest for micro-loans was held in such areas as agriculture, food processing, textiles and clothing production, development of folk crafts, domestic and social services, provision of retail services and catering. In addition, 10 girls have received credits for studying in higher educational institutions of capital.
Also, grants and special gifts have been allocated to two participants with limited abilities: Murod Karimov from Samarkand has received advances wheelchair and a computer to teach children computer literacy at home and Nigora Sobirova from Kitab has received a non-repayable grant for 1 million UZS with the view of opening a center for embroidery training.
