Gulnara Karimova awarded grants to masters of applied art and the winners of Bazar-Art exhibition project, organized by the Fund Forum and IJOD Association of Artists, Art Critics and People`s Masters. Also, as part of Employment Aid Program launched by the Women`s Council Public Association and the Association of Microfinance Organizations and Credit Unions (NAMOCU) in partnership with с Xalqamir Mehr LLC and Bernina Tikuv-mash LLC, Karimova handed over 35 Swiss-made sewing machines to young women from Tashkent city, Tashkent Region and Syrdarya Region.
Bazar-Art Exhibition-Fair has been held since 2007, with around 100 masters from all parts of the republic participating in it annually. These include national masters, professional artists as well as young talents. Under the Art-Bazar project the Fund Forum traditionally allocates grants for masters. These grants are aimed at helping to further develop applied art and revive “endangered” crafts and traditional forms of art in Uzbekistan.
The Employment Aid Program for young women is expected to increase female leadership in socio-economic spheres and create new home-based jobs. In the pipeline are similar events during which young women from other regions will be given sewing machines. Also, under the project two sewing machines have been given to a seamstresses` workshop employing disabled people. This workshop, a pilot project, was set up under the aegis of the Women`s Council Public Association at Rakat mahalla (community) Tashkent`s Yakkasaroy district with the goal of improving the current system of professional training and employment for disabled people.
