On a sunny morning of April 30, Bukhara, a city steeped in history and a hub of architecture, spirituality and trade in Central Asia, was filled with the sounds of karnai and surnai Uzbek national instruments, signaling the start of the eagerly-awaited “Asrlar sadosi” Festival of Traditional Culture, a collaborative effort between the Fund Forum and the UNESCO Tashkent Office. Over 300 participants of folk groups walked through the central streets of old Bukhara in a festive procession, drawing hundreds of residents, tourists and guests into a festival whirlpool.

On April 27, over 10,000 people joined “In the Name of Life” charitable marathon, a project devised by Gulnara Karimova in an effort to support women with breast cancer and children with disabilities as well as inclusive education in Uzbekistan. Now in its second year, the major marathon has fetched over 100 mln soums and was organized by the Fund Forum, the Women`s Council and “In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association.

Madrid hosted Uzbek Culture Evening “Samarkand: Silk Road Rarities” organized by the Fund Forum and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Madrid with support from Repsol company. The event was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Spain, Professor Gulnara Karimova, who said: “It was in Samarkand that the foundations of the ties between our two nations were laid. Over 600 years ago, in 1404, Spanish envoy Rui Gonzales de Clavijo came to Samarkand with the goal of establishing diplomatic relations between King Enrique III of Spain and Tamerlane.”
