An international conference titled “Social Strategies of Inclusive Education” on May 5 focused on issues concerning inclusive education in Uzbekistan and ways of further integration of children with disabilities in society. Held at Tashkent’s Radisson SAS Hotel, the conference was organized by the Social Initiatives Support Fund (SISF), Special Olympics Uzbekistan and the Fund Forum with assistance from the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, the Ministry of Public Education and the UNESCO Tashkent Office.

From May 2 through May 5, twenty-five local breast cancer specialists attended a training session titled “Breast Cancer in the Light of Evidence-Based Medicine. Modern Aspects of Epidemiology, Diagnostics, Treatment and Prevention” led by leading American experts at Tashkent`s Dedeman Hotel – the first time this sort of training has included local professors to enable them to pass on newly gained information to students at medical schools.

The Fund Forum signed Memorandums of Understanding with two major Japanese organizations: Hirayama Ikuo Silk Road Museum Foundation and the International Friendship Exchange Council. Prior to the signing ceremony, representatives of several major Japanese public organizations expressed thanks to the Fund Forum and the Chairperson of the Fund Forum Board of Trustees, Gulnara Karimova, for providing support to Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture, which was affected by a natural disaster in March this year.

The second, final, day of “Asrlar sadosi” Festival of Traditional Culture included a series of exciting events, including a roundtable titled “Film festivals – a phenomenon of contemporary global culture”, National Dress Festival, book presentation, and grant awards ceremony for spiritual education institutions in Uzbekistan. The final day of the Festival culminated in a major gala concert, with Gulnara Karimova presenting awards to the Festival laureates.

Bukhara city`s Juybori Kalon Madrasah hosted a presentation of the book “Masterpieces of Architectural Epigraphy in Uzbekistan, published by the Fund Forum. Also, the chairperson of Mehr Nuri Foundation`s Public Council, Gulnara Karimova, presented grants to 10 spiritual education institutions. The event held as part of Asrlar sadosi Festival was attended by members of Uzbekistan Muslim Board, heads and teachers of spiritual education institutions and madrasah students from various Uzbek cities.
