On June 3, Tatler Restaurant in Moscow (Radisson Royal Hotel Moscow) hosted a presentation of ‘high jewelry’ and luxury presents from GULI collection, which can now be seen in SOHOJewelry jewelry boutiques in Moscow. The event was attended by famous diplomats, politicians, businessmen, TV show hosts, actors, designers, film directors, and athletes: Igor Krutoy, Alexander Shenkman, Arkadiy Novikov, Mikhail Leontyev, Phillip Kirkorov, Ani Lorak, Nikita Vysotskiy, Andrei Panin, Pavel Lungin, Maksim Fadeyev, Irina Viner, Yelena Yarmak, Kseniya Sobchak, Anatoliy Maksimov, Yekaterina Mtsituridze, Alexander Shumskiy, Oleg Tabakov, Tatyana Mihalkova, Oksana Pushkina, Denis Simachev, among others.

On May 27, over 100 prominent art historians, artists, diplomats, public figures, journalists and fans of talented masters` works attended the opening of the exhibition titled “One Thousand and One Lamps”, a new creative project of the Rakhimov dynasty of ceramists. The exhibition has been organized by Usto-Shogird School of Ceramics with the assistance of the Fund Forum and IJOD Association of Artists, Art Historians and Craftsmen established last year by Gulnara Karimova with the goal of uniting masters of different ages, from academics to young artists of all types and categories of arts in Uzbekistan.

Participation by Gulnara Karimova in Cinema Against AIDS charitable evening, organized annually by amfAR as part of the Cannes Film Festival, has become a tradition, which contributes to efforts to attract international attention to the problem and research in this area and, most importantly, to raise funds in support of amfAR.

On May 14, Tashkent hosted an International Breast Cancer Forum. The event was attended by around 400 people among whom were professionals from Uzbekistan, Russia, Israel, Belgium, Spain, Singapore, Japan, Switzerland as well as representatives of governmental and international organizations, diplomatic corps and media organizations. The first international forum that focused on female cancerous diseases, titled “Medical Aspects and the Role of Public Organizations in the Solution of Breast Cancer Problems”, took place in Tashkent on June 30, 2009. It brought together over 200 representatives of governmental bodies, NGOs, businessmen and citizens’ initiative groups. These forums were held at the initiative of Gulnara Karimova. On May 15, the international participants conducted master classes, clinical discussions and medical consultations in the field of breast care, gynecology and psychology in several medical and other establishments.

Gulnara Karimova led a charitable forum-marathon dubbed In the Name of Life under the symbol of the pink ribbon. Nearly 5,000 people joined the race. The campaign, the first of its kind in Uzbekistan, was organized by the Fund Forum and In the Name of Life National Breast Cancer Association. All the proceeds from the campaign will go toward the purchase of medication for women diagnosed with breast cancer and organization of campaigns aimed at early diagnosis of the disease for women living in all regions of the republic.
