A series of charitable events have been held in Andijan and Jizzakh for families in need of social support and children in orphanages. The events have been organized by the Fund Forum, the Women`s Council, Mehr nuri Public Foundation and the Social Initiatives Support Fund.

On November 25-26 Tashkent hosted an international symposium titled “National model of maternal and child health care in Uzbekistan: Healthy mother – healthy child”, organized by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the WHO and the UNFPA with the Women`s Council, “In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association, Mehr nuri Foundation and the SISF as organizing partners. The event bought together heads and representatives of major international organizations, heads of health ministries of roughly 40 countries as well as scientists, doctors and experts.

Style.Uz Art Week 2011 culminated in a charity concert by Italian pop star Eros Ramazzotti. Held on October 28, the singer`s 48th birthday, the concert contributed to pink action held as part of Art Week. The proceeds from the concert and the charity gala dinner held on October 23 are slated to go toward supporting 25 women living with breast cancer, purchasing costly medications and financing surgeries in Uzbekistan and abroad. Part of the tickets to the concert was distributed among women diagnosed with the disease and doctors involved in free medical checkups organized regularly across the country.

The second day of Style.Uz Art Week 2011 offered 10 memorable events: exhibitions, fashion shows, meetings with film stars and an epic concert by music legend Ennio Morricone.

Tashkent plunged into cultural frenzy as Style.Uz Art Week, a major cultural project that has no parallel elsewhere in the world, kicked off today at the Youth Creativity Palace. With a kaleidoscopic diversity of events such as art exhibitions, fashion shows, master classes, contests, conferences with celebrities and afterparties, Style.Uz Art Week 2011 promises to become another exciting page in the cultural life of the country.
