Day four of the “Style.Uz” Art Week, a project devised by Gulnara Karimova, may be characterized as a modern version of an ancient-Greece play (in terms of form) because it contained a Prolog, which smoothly developed into an Introduction of Heroes, which was, in turn, followed by Action. The metamorphosis in the way the Art Week is annually presented and staged should provide no room for being surprised. After all, culture and arts represent a permanently moving and developing process which experiments with forms and ways of posing questions and seeking answers.

It is said that time is relative, and sometimes one day may seem to have the span of more than 24 hours. In the case of “Style.Uz” Art Week, a brainchild of Gulnara Karimova, one day is equal to at least three days, given the breadth of events and the resulting wealth of impressions. During the Art Week, which is literally packed with colorful events happening one after another, one would be least willing to miss any of them as each event is interesting, unique and spectacular. Art Week Style.uz-2010 presented a lot of surprises in store. But one of the most significant events for style and fashion connoisseurs was the presentation of the worlds famous fashion luster with French roots and an international fashion look L`OFFICIEL magazine’s Central Asian version. This project initiated and embodied by Gulnara Karimova was implemented with the direct participation of the edition`s owner Marie-José Susskind-Jalou. Madame Jalou paid a special trip to Tashkent for the presentation of the first L`OFFICIEL CENTRAL ASIA issue together with her son Benjamin Eymere, the head of the French edition of L`OFFICIEL.

The second day of the Art Week offered four monobrand runway shows: two from Spanish labels, Agatha Ruiz De La Prada and Lemoniez, one from Japan`s Chisato Tsumori, and Underground youth fashion show, which, according to Gulnara Karimova, provides an opportunity for up-and-coming and promising designers to show their worth and be judged by the broad public. The effectiveness of the project “Underground” consists in the fact that a number of designers who participated in previous shows are now presenting their collections at higher-level runways.

What is the reason of Art Week Style.uz project`s successful development? According to competent people who follow the project from its very foundation, it is a clever combination of creative and administrative component. Ideas are generated and then quickly put into practice. Moreover, this feature is inherited from the project`s author - Gulnara Karimova, who always finely combines a creative person and an artist, administrator and manager in herself. The artist creates in a free flight of ideas, and manager skillfully materializes these same ideas.
