Kelajak ovozi 2010: paving the way for the winners

Forty-five winners of Kelajak ovozi Talented Youth Contest were awarded by Gulnara Karimova, the chairperson of the Contest’s Organizing Committee, at the Youth Creativity Palace on December 24. The winners presented works that were judged by a jury composed of heads of institutes and universities, scholars, public figures and experts. Also, the International Olympic Committee honored the Fund Forum with its annual “Sport – Inspiring Young People” Trophy in recognition of its active efforts to contribute to sport, education and culture.

Prize Quiz results finalized

On December 22, Gulnara Karimova, the chairperson of the Fund Forum's Board of Trustees, presented the keys to Matiz automobiles to the winners of the Prize Quiz during M&TVA 2010 Awards Ceremony in Tashkent. As many as 72,378 people tried their luck in the Prize Quiz announced by the Fund Forum and held from November 15 to December 15, 2010. The quiz was launched in an effort to stimulate interest in projects overseen by the Fund Forum. The quiz draws public attention not so much to the Foundation as to the ideas it advocates: development of national culture and art, solution of social and humanitarian issues, and development of an active civil society.

M&TVA 2010 Awards Ceremony: Big Night Makes Big Stars

The fifth M&TVA Awards Ceremony, held on December 22 at Turkistan Palace in Tashkent, saw leading professionals in music, cinema as well as TV and radio broadcasting pick up the most coveted accolade. The M&TVA Award seeks to recognize outstanding achievements in and contributions to the development of culture and art in Uzbekistan. A jury of eminent culture and arts figures is put together to nominate candidates and select winners. The TV audience also votes for the nominees on www.mtva.uz website and through SMS messages. The results are then combined with the jury’s ratings to determine the winners in each category. The fifth M&TVA Awards Ceremony also unveiled the winners of the Prize Quiz announced by the Fund Forum, which is one of the organizers of the Ceremony along with the Authors and Performers Guild and TVM Channel.

Around 500 people came together at the Center of National Arts on December 20 to attend the awards ceremony for the winners under six programs launched by the Fund Forum, Mehr Nuri Foundation, the Women’s Council and the Social Initiatives Support Fund as well as to unveil the winner of the Woman of the Year National Contest. Fifty grants have been awarded under the Family Entrepreneurship Development and Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship Development Programmes; 31 grants to regional NGOs for the support of socially-oriented projects; 10 certificates to people in charge of the project “Alternative Energy Sources for the Support of the Social Sector Representatives”; 11 winners of the Contest “Modern Uzbek Village Woman” have been saluted; and the winner of the Woman of the Year National Contest – Saida Mirzarakhimova, a chief doctor from Chirchik city – has been honored.

"Woman of the Year" National Contest finalists unveiled

Over 28,000 women across Uzbekistan submitted applications in 2010 to participate in the Woman of the Year National Contest organized annually by the Women’s Council. The selection rounds have been under way throughout Uzbekistan since November 25. Winners have been identified in Namangan, Jizzak, Ferghana, Andijan, Navoi, Bukhara, Surkhandarya, Khorezm, Samarkand, Syrdarya regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The final is scheduled for December 20.
