The author and organizer of numerous youth media projects, including the creation of the network of youth TV studios and press centers, Gulnara Karimova, has been awarded Special Prize For contributions to the development of youth media projects. She has also become the Honorable Chairperson of the Youth Media Council established within the framework of the recent Youth Media Forum Yoshlar parvozi (Flight of the youth) which focused on the activities of youth media projects in Uzbekistan, their effectiveness, problems and prospects.
The youth media forum in Tashkent brought together roughly 200 young journalists who participate actively in the media projects of the Fund Forum, NAEMM (National Association of Electronic Mass Media) and other organizations. The best participants of these projects are awarded Yoshlar parvozi Prize. As part of the Cultural Forum Project, nongovernmental print media receive awards for the activities in 2009 and grants for 2010.
The Youth Media Council will work toward the improvement of the quality of youth broadcasts and other media material across the country. The Council is composed of heads, experts and journalists of the NAEMM, National TV and Radio Company, Kelajak ovozi Youth Initiative Center, Nongovernmental Print Media and News Agencies Support Fund, regional press centers and Kelajak ovozi youth studios.
