On September 10l, 2010, Gulnara Karimova presented her new GULI collection during Mercedez Benz Fashion Week in New York City. The collection consisted of 37 models featuring national Uzbek fabrics and patterns in a modern and traditional interpretation. While the New York Fashion Week, one of the most popular and high-profile in the world, is still running, some western fashion critics have described the collection as successful and the best in its kind. This is fashion inspired by ethnic themes.
High-profile guests such as R&B and pop singer Jojo, fashion designers Domenico Vacca and Yelena Ermak, vice-president of de Grisogono Giovanni Mattera and the wife of the UN Secretary General Ban Soon-Taek as well as editors of glossy magazines, fashion experts, fashion bloggers, representatives of American trading networks were among those attending what became something new and extraordinary at the backdrop of the other 97 shows of the Fashion Week.
