...The Art Week Style.Uz 2010, a modern and multifaceted project, highlights traditions and aspirations to be in step with time. The performances featuring karnais and surnais, Uzbek national music instruments which have always welcomed guests and visitors were followed by greetings by several leading culture and arts professionals, involved in the project, and a welcome speech by the organizer and author of the project Gulnara Karimova.
The speech by the author of Central Asia`s culture and fashion mega project opened the International Photo Biennale, a sort of a fifth dimension of culture and arts which incorporates several spaces laden with creative ideas.
The Photo Biennale TashkentAle 2010 offered visitors a treasure trove of artworks, and each visitor appeared to be "talking" with the exhibits, because each art enthusiast, while looking at an artistic image, hears and sees something based on their individual experience.
The archeological exhibition "Kanka: the Past and the Present", another in the series of the Art Week events, takes visitors back into past of the Uzbek land, into a time when many ancient cultures and traditions harmoniously blended, into the time which produced a cultural mix which is now our common cultural legacy.
Just as noteworthy is the British fashion duo Basso & Brooke`s Capsule Collection composed of ikat dresses, seen as a stunning combination of western thought and unique Uzbek fabrics.
