IJOD Association of Artists, Art Critics and People’s Masters of Uzbekistan, established in April 2009 at the initiative of Gulnara Karimova, marked its first anniversary with an exhibition presenting works by masters of various generations. The exhibition started on April 16 at Tashkent’s Youth Creativity Palace and was organized by the Association, Fund Forum and the Centre of National Arts. The opening ceremony was attended by over 150 people – culture and arts professionals, members of the diplomatic corps, general public and journalists.
On display were over 500 works of all types of art created by members of IJOD Association, which, during its first year of operation only, brought together over 300 artists of all types from Uzbekistan. The exhibition demonstrated the diversity of traditional art, whose development is supported constantly by the Fund Forum. The whole spectrum of trends and directions of Uzbek painting – from realism to abstract art – was broadly presented. The young artists’ creative search was reflected in such forms of conceptual art as installations, video art, and photo collage.
