“House of Style” Creative Association, which was founded by Gulnara in 2003 marked its birthday by organizing a festive event for friends and guests. Those gathered enjoyed a colorful Christmas fair featuring New Year theme items crafted by applied art masters as well as a GULI runway show.
Much like a Christmas fairy tale, the event was filled with fun: songs, mulled wine, pancakes, children’s laughter, and a wide assortment of handmade items… this, however, is only a tiny part of the festivities that sprawled across the area between My Logo Room and La Shakar. The event offered counters packed with multifarious items: little angels, dolls clad in national costumes, cookies. The biggest highlight of all, however, was a grand Christmas tree with neon lights.
The guests were in for another surprise: a runway show by Podium Italia boutique and Guli label on the f-bar summer patio. The show ran to Christmas music with elements of traditional Uzbek motifs. Although a catwalk show to mark the House’s birthday is a tradition, this year’s show turned out extraordinary. Despite the cold weather, the models sashayed confidently along the catwalk and seemed defiant of the elements while looking exotic at the same time. The demonstrated a new trend which combined GULI chapans (robes) with must-have accessories from collections by world-famous fashion labels.
The show was followed by an afterparty which gave those gathered an opportunity to sample traditional Chistmas cakes shaped like miniature Christmas trees. Each cake was decorated with a candle. People made wishes and blew out the candles on the cakes they were ready to enjoy.
The House of Style gave itself the goal of uniting Uzbekistan’s leading fashionistas along with designers, stylists, and applied art masters as well as raising the international visitors’ awareness of the traditional approach and innovative ideas of leading and budding fashion designers.
