The Embassy of Germany in Uzbekistan and Goethe Institute, with support from the Fund Forum, are running a string of events as part of the project “Germany Weeks in Uzbekistan”. The events are aimed at popularizing the German language, culture, arts, sports and science. On September 6, an interactive exhibition titled “They Speak German Here”, the first of its kind in Central Asia, started at Tashkent’s Youth Creativity Centre. On September 17, Turkistan Palace in Tashkent will play host to a chamber music concert “The Orient and Handel”.
At the exposition “They Speak German Here” on display are 500 multimedia exhibits, from a German dictionary compiled by the Brothers Grimm and the original edition of Sorrows of Young Werther to artsy notepads, a youth vernacular and mobile text messages. The exhibition will last until September 28.
From September to November, the Embassy of Germany, Goethe Institute, the Fund Forum and other partners will organize a collaborative project on video art, a series of exhibitions, classical music and jazz concerts, a language study master class and a German-Uzbek soccer tournament, which will be held as part of the German Weeks in Uzbekistan.
