Charitable events for children and newlyweds in Andijan and Jizzakh

A series of charitable events have been held in Andijan and Jizzakh for families in need of social support and children in orphanages. The events have been organized by the Fund Forum, the Women`s Council, Mehr nuri Public Foundation and the Social Initiatives Support Fund.

A sunnat to`y (traditional male circumcision event) for five boys living in orphanages in Andijan and five boys from low-income families in Jizzakh has been organized. All the boys have been given bicycles and postcards with warm wishes from Gulnara Karimova while the families in need of social support received microwave ovens.

In another charitable act in Jizzakh, the organizers helped organize a wedding reception for Abdumannon and Dilbar Usmanovs. Over 500 invitees attended the wedding which offered festive foods and featured pop singers Oybek and Nigora in the concert program. The organizers gave the new family а television, a tea set and postcards with warm wishes from Gulnara Karimova.

The first such charity act was carried out in 2005 at the initiative of the Women`s Council and Mehr nuri Public Foundation. The first touring charitable campaigns were held in Samarkand, Namangan, Quvasoy, Marghilan and Bukhara. Back then several families were given Singer sewing machines. Two orphaned sisters in Bukhara received a new television. In Samarkand members of the Women`s Council met with families with many children and gave them presents. In Gulistan a sunnat to`y was organized for seven boys: five from low-income families and two from an orphanage. In Namangan, 15 centenarians were honored and several mothers with newly born babies in a maternity ward were provided with baby sets. Under the said program, the Women`s Council provided the central maternity complexes in Ferghana and Samarkand regions with modern medical equipment. Two schools in Namangan and Quvasoy were provided with desks while the students were given books and stationery.
